Overview

The Canadian Sport for Life, Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model outlines the seven stages to develop Physical Literacy for life-long participation in physical activity and podium performances. Now all National Sport Organizations in Canada have designed their own sport-specific LTAD models. Karate’s National Sport Organization, Karate Canada has designed age appropriate Karate programs that Karate Manitoba follows.

The goals of the Active Start/FUNdamentals Development Program are:

To increase participation and promote the growth of karate in Manitoba, to enrich inter club relations and communications and to promote Karate Manitoba programs province wide at the club level. We do this by:

  1. Provide support for grass roots development by financially supporting open seminars that KM members may participate in
  2. Hold instructor workshops encouraging participation of member dojo instructors and assistants
  3. Improve experience for existing members by providing another venue for members (similar to the draw of a tournament) and attract new members.
  4. Support Member clubs wishing to host their style events and/or competitions.
